Named Soleil (meaning the Sun), this tri-layer masterpiece (¥650) plays with the vibrant flavours of tropical fruits such as passionfruit, pineapples, mangoes and bananas. The middle layer of creamy Fromage Blanc sits on a soft almond cake, topped with a translucent citrusy gelee blended with lime peel.
Eclairs come in all shapes and sizes, but this strawberry eclair (¥600) is definitely one of the most ambitious version. It is piped with not one or two but three different flavours-fresh cream, chocolate and pistachio, not counting the custard cream below the strawberries. It might be a little troublesome to share this with someone so the best way is to grab it before it is gone, or order more for those who are watching you eat this in envy.
Anhelo (¥1000)
This is a mind-blowingly complicated cake that looks innocent with its glossy white exterior. The sourish raspberry compote balances the sweetness of the white ricotta cheese and the chocolate cream. The sturdy base of biscuit crumble and moist pistachio financier presented a myriad of contrasting textures to this White Day's limited edition creation. Any lady who receives this stunningly gorgeous cake must be one of the luckiest person on Earth.
The Sakura Millefeuille (¥1300) is a beautiful combination of the best two popular spring flavours; Sakura and Matcha. The cream is not too sweet and the layers of puff pastry were crispy. This elongated 27-cm long Sakura Millefeuille is definitely the Sakura Sweet you would like to bring to Hanami picnics to impress your friends and family.
